Annotation After the recent economic crisis the situation of young people, not only in the European Union (EU) but worldwide, got worse and it is the still a very topical problem. Even though in last two years together accompanied by the positive economic growth the situation has improved the European Union still considers the issues concerning the young generation as one of its main priorities and forces its member states to carry out steps which would continue improving their situation. Unfortunately, it is not very successful. This article deals with the social and economic troubles which young people have to face nowadays. In particular, these problems are high rate of unemployment of both young men and women, low level of salaries, high risk of poverty and social exclusion. The aim of this paper is to outline the current position of young generation in Visegrad group countries and to compare it with the situation across the EU.
