Application of gymnastic exercises in physical education classes in primary school

Annotation	The aim of the diploma thesis is to find out the use and range of the gymnastic exercises in the physical education of lower secondary schools in the Liberec region, and to accompany the results with the practice in chosen foreign countries. The main method of this work was a questionnaire survey which focused on gymnastic exercises, and the summarisation of the foreign curricula and specialised studies. Seventy one physical education teachers in the Liberec region were interviewed through the survey and sixty five of them concluded that the pupils do not manage the gymnastic exercises. Founded on the foreign sources, Slovakia came out as the best country in the regard of the gymnastic exercises; on the other hand, England, Ireland and France appeared the worst. The Czech Republic represents the midpoint between the two imaginary poles. Based on the available information, we put together a set of recommendations to physical education practice. It is recommend putting a short block of gymnastic exercises to each lesson of the physical education in the lower secondary school with a logical sequence of elements from the exercises with one's body, exercises with the equipment to exercise with the tools and the creative combinations of all three.
